👋 Hi, I’m Andrew Rowe –

 

I grew up in a working-class neighborhood in Long Beach, California, where opportunity often felt just out of reach.

With learning disabilities and grades that didn’t tell my full story, I spent years feeling like the system wasn’t built for kids like me.

After high school, I found a different path, serving as a paratrooper medic in the U.S. Army.
That’s where I learned the power of hands-on experience, curiosity, and grit to unlock doors that textbooks couldn’t.

That belief that real learning happens when it’s imaginative, active, and alive stuck with me.
And years later, it came roaring back when I became a dad to twins.

✏️ Why I Wrote Smart Parts

Watching my twins explore the world full of questions, creativity, and big energy reminded me of what I’d longed for as a kid:
Encouragement. Inspiration. And stories that made thinking feel like an adventure.

Smart Parts became my way of giving them, and kids like them, the kind of stories I never had.

📚 Inspired by My Heroes

My biggest inspirations were my children and the storytellers who shaped my imagination growing up:
Shel Silverstein and the wild wonder of Calvin and Hobbes.

They showed me that smart stories could be funny, poetic, and fearless.
So I set out to write something that respected kids’ intelligence, made them laugh, and nudged them to dream bigger.

At its core, Smart Parts is built on one simple truth:

When kids think like scientists and dream like artists, they unlock the superpowers that shape the future.

I believe kids deserve more than endless screen time or memorization drills.
They deserve stories that invite them to imagine, explore, and believe in their brilliance.
